How a UX Writer is utilized by a team or company differs across many industries. We are usually the first writer and the last UX hire in the company. I have learned to be flexible with how my skills are applied in many situations, and In the case of Realbotix, it was more my UX methodology that was needed than simply my writing skills.

When I was hired at Realbotix, I quickly learned that this business spent a lot of time being reactionary to an imaginary market, and making hasty decisions with no research or data to back them up. All of the departments made decisions alone, and 3rd party vendors were allowed to pitch and receive approval for projects with no plan for generating revenue for the company which drained the company of thousands per month.

I soon realized that it didn't matter how well I wrote copy for their products, their system was broken and needed someone to not only point it out but offer a solution. Here is how I went about solving it.
